Uzbekistan Senate Plenary Set for June 13: Courts, Corruption, Silk

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan Senate to Tackle Judicial Independence, Corruption, and Silk Industry at June 13 Plenary

Uzbekistan's Senate will convene its 16th plenary session on June 13, 2026, with a packed agenda spanning judicial financing reform, anti-corruption legislation, noise pollution protection, and a parliamentary inquiry into the country's sericulture sector.

The Council of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis adopted a formal resolution scheduling the session, at which legislators will examine a cluster of socioeconomic and legal bills alongside parliamentary oversight measures.

The legislative block centers on the judiciary. Senators will consider mechanisms for financing the courts, measures to strengthen judicial independence, and expanded guarantees of judicial immunity — a package reflecting Uzbekistan's ongoing effort to insulate the bench from executive pressure.

Further bills on the agenda address protection of the population from harmful noise exposure, improvements to the national anti-corruption framework, and updated regulations governing hunting and the management of hunting concessions. International financial relations will form a separate legislative strand.

Beyond lawmaking, the plenary will exercise parliamentary oversight through a formal inquiry to the Cabinet of Ministers. The query targets the sericulture sector, covering the systemic development of silk production, the efficiency of cocoon harvesting and deep processing, strengthening of the sector's feed base, and expansion of export capacity — an industry with deep historical roots in Uzbekistan and growing strategic relevance.

The session will also include a detailed review of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan's annual activity report for 2025.
