Uzbekistan Reports 170 Violations in Child Transport Rules
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Road Safety Service in Uzbekistan identified 170 cases of illegal and unsafe transportation of preschool-aged children between 1 and 12 May, according to reports from road patrol inspection activities.
According to the agency, a total of 3,872 children were transported in these cases in violation of traffic regulations, creating a real threat to their life and health. Legal measures are being applied to parents and responsible individuals in connection with the identified violations.
The report notes that the violations included cases where children were transported by drivers without valid driving licenses, as well as by individuals previously deprived of the right to drive. In some incidents, drivers were also found to be operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
Examples from several regions were cited. In the Bukhara region, children were reportedly entrusted to a driver who was under the influence of alcohol. In the Syrdarya region, a driver previously stripped of his license transported 23 children in a Damas vehicle to a preschool institution. In the Namangan region, an unlicensed driver transporting 18 children was stopped by traffic police after driving in the opposite lane.
A traffic accident in the Navoi region was also mentioned, in which minor passengers were injured. Authorities stressed that such incidents demonstrate a high level of risk when rules for transporting children are not followed.
Road Safety Service officials urged parents and educational institution staff to pay closer attention to safety requirements and to prevent any transportation of children in violation of established rules. Enforcement inspections in this area will continue.
