Uzbekistan rebuilds Urgut clinic, maternity ward renovated

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the Urgut District of Uzbekistan’s Samarkand Region, the complete reconstruction of Family Polyclinic No. 21 has been completed. The facility serves more than 13,000 residents.

The medical institution, built in 1972 in the “Bakhrin” mahalla, had not undergone major repairs for more than half a century and remained the only primary healthcare facility for the population of 16 rural settlements.

As part of the reconstruction works, the clinic building was fully renovated, an additional wing was constructed, and a new 20-bed maternity ward was established. Following modernization, the facility began operating in an upgraded format, providing residents with improved and more comfortable healthcare services.

The acceleration of the reconstruction process followed a visit to the facility in December 2025 by the Head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva. During the visit, the unsatisfactory condition of the facility was noted, and the need for comprehensive renovation was highlighted.

Following this, a comprehensive plan was developed and implemented to modernize the regional healthcare system, including infrastructure upgrades and the expansion of medical services.

As a result of the completed works, the polyclinic was fully reconstructed and a new maternity ward was commissioned, significantly expanding the capacity to provide medical assistance to residents of the district and surrounding villages.
