Uzbekistan, Qatar Expand Labor Migration Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the country’s embassy in Qatar held a series of talks in Doha focused on labor migration and expanding employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens.
During a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Labour Ali bin Saeed, the two sides discussed labor market needs in Qatar, particularly in the fields of healthcare, tourism, aviation, and information technology. They also addressed issues related to training specialists in Uzbekistan in line with international standards and the introduction of targeted education programs.
Following the talks, the parties agreed on a visit by representatives of Qatar’s employment and health ministries to Uzbekistan, the creation of an interagency working group, and the launch of specialized training programs for medical personnel based on Qatari standards.
A separate agreement was reached with Qatar’s state employment organization Jusour. Under the arrangement, a job forum involving more than 50 Qatari employers is planned to be held in Tashkent in September 2026.
A key outcome of the negotiations was an agreement with Qatar Airways Vice President Fathi Atti on the phased recruitment of Uzbek specialists in the aviation sector. Already in May–June of the current year, 65 candidates are expected to be selected for positions as flight attendants, engineers, and airport staff, with subsequent employment at the airline.
In addition, the parties agreed on a longer-term project to attract up to 1,600 university-educated specialists in fields including piloting, mechanics, electrical engineering, and general engineering to work for Qatar Airways.
