Uzbekistan produces 14.6 million tons of cement in 2022

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Experts from the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IPMI) studied the dynamics of the development of the cement industry in Uzbekistan in 2016-2022.

In 2016, 12 enterprises concentrated in 5 regions of the country produced 8.6 million tons of cement, which is one of the main factors in ensuring the implementation of construction industry development programs.

High demand for cement, significant market development potential, stimulating government policies that have created a favorable business environment in the country have attracted the attention of new investors to the cement industry.

In 2017-2022, 21 new cement production facilities were organized in various regions on the basis of energy-saving "dry" technologies, bringing the total capacity to 27 million tons.

In 2022, Uzbekistan produced 14.6 million tons of cement, bringing the output level per person to 415 kg. In the world, on average, 519 kg of cement was produced per person, in China - 1770 kg, Turkey - 873 kg, Russia - 414 kg, USA - 280 kg of cement.

With an increase in the volume of construction work for 2017-2022 by 71.5%, cement production increased by 69.3%, which shows the correspondence between supply and demand in the market.

For further innovative development of the industry, it is planned to introduce “green” energy-saving technologies, diversify the types of products that are in demand on the markets, and significantly increase the production of high-quality (M500 and M600) and special cements.
