Uzbekistan introduces new import duties to some products
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan increased rates of import duties to importing of some food products from 1 July 2011.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On additional measures on improving customs tariff regulation of imported goods” on 28 June 2011.

According to the document, the rate of imported produces from poultry and turkey set at the size of 30% from customs cost, but not less than US$1 per kilogram. Earlier, the rate of import duty was 30% from customs cost, but not less than US$0.25 per kilogram.

The rate for imported subcutaneous pig fats (fresh, cooled, salted frozen or frozen in brine) grew from US$0.3 per kilogram to US$$1 per kg at keeping ad valorem rate at the size of 30% from customs cost.

The rate for imported sausage and other products from meat grew to “30%, but not less than US$2 per kilogram” from “10, but not less than US$0.4 per kilogram”. The rate for imported cheeses or cottage cheese grew from “5%, not less than US$0.1 per kilogram” to “30%, but not less than US$2 per kilogram”.

From 1 July 2011, the rate for imported bakery and confectionery products with sweetening mixtures was increased from “30%, but at least US$0.35 per kilogram” to “30%, but at least US$1 per kilogram”.

Uzbek President also approved new rates for imported incandescent lamp and gas-discharge lamps, excluding lamps of ultra-violet and infra-red radiation.
