Uzbekistan, Hong Kong banks discuss financial cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and representatives of Hong Kong’s banking sector have discussed prospects for strategic cooperation aimed at strengthening financial ties, advancing banking digitalization, and expanding investment collaboration, according to official reports. The talks were held in Hong Kong during a visit by an Uzbek delegation organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
The meeting brought together representatives of The Hong Kong Association of Banks and major Uzbek financial institutions, including Kapital Bank, Octobank, Garant Bank, Asia Alliance Bank, Apex Bank, Anor Bank, TBC Bank, and Uzum Bank. Discussions focused on enhancing international financial cooperation and exchanging experience between the banking systems of the two regions.
The Hong Kong Association of Banks, founded in 1981, is a key industry body in Hong Kong’s banking sector. It unites all licensed banks in the region, serving as a central platform for coordination of sector-wide interests.
During the talks, participants examined issues related to the digital transformation of the financial sector, the expansion of instruments supporting investment projects, and the sharing of best practices in banking governance. Particular attention was paid to opportunities for developing digital financial services and strengthening cooperation between financial institutions.
Following the meeting, participants agreed to establish a permanent dialogue platform and to prepare a roadmap for joint initiatives.
The implementation of these agreements is expected to strengthen Uzbekistan’s position as a regional financial hub in Central Asia and expand opportunities for Hong Kong investors.
