Uzbekistan Holds Investment Talks at Samarkand ADB Meeting
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Samarkand, on the first day of the 59th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of international financial institutions and foreign partners.
The talks took place at the Congress Center ahead of the official opening of the forum. Participants included Antonella Bassani, World Bank Vice President for the Europe and Central Asia region; Koo Yun Cheol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Korea; Sahil Babayev, Minister of Finance of Azerbaijan; and Satsuki Katayama, Japan’s Minister of Finance. Representatives of major international and regional companies also took part, including ACWA Power Chairman Mohammad Abunayyan and Sumou Holding Company Chairman Saeed Salem Muhammad Al Nahdi.
The discussions focused primarily on expanding investment and financial cooperation, advancing large-scale joint projects, and reviewing priorities in the energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors. Participants also addressed support for structural economic reforms and the development of the private sector.
According to Khodjaev, the talks are significant not only in the context of the ADB meeting but also for the practical coordination of ongoing initiatives and the identification of new areas of cooperation. He noted that such formats help accelerate project approvals and strengthen engagement with international partners.
The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of further strengthening Uzbekistan’s long-term economic partnerships with international financial institutions and foreign countries.
