Ellikkala district is unique land, attracting tourists and scientists from across the world with its monuments from the Middle Ages. Ellikala means fifty fortresses and the district has such fortresses as Ayaz-kala, Kyrk-kyz, Burgun Kala, Dev Kala, Teshik-kalam Toprak-kala, etc. One of ancient monuments of Central Asia – Janbas-kala – is also located here.
