Uzbekistan auto production rises 11.8% in Q1 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s automotive industry continued to demonstrate solid growth in the first quarter of 2026, with production reaching 108,769 passenger cars, an increase of 11.8% compared to 97,274 units in the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Committee.
Production of trucks also showed strong momentum, rising by 28.7% to 1,178 units in January–March 2026, up from 915 units a year earlier.
Chinese automotive brands recorded particularly rapid expansion. Production of BYD electric vehicles surged by 75.5% to 5,111 units, compared to 2,913 in the first quarter of the previous year. Haval crossovers also posted significant growth, increasing output by 58.0% to 2,978 units from 1,885 units.
The specialized vehicle segment showed even stronger performance, with production rising by 61.5% to 11,998 units, compared to 7,426 units in the same period of 2025.
Among mass-market models, the Cobalt remained the leading vehicle by volume, with production increasing by 19.2% to 38,397 units. Output of the Tracker SUV rose by 2.2% to 10,746 units.
South Korean brand KIA also recorded growth of 15.5%, with production reaching 7,105 units.
At the same time, several models saw declines. Onix production fell by 24.0% to 8,950 units, while Damas output decreased by 4.0% to 21,503 units. Chery production slightly declined by 0.8% to 1,981 units.
Overall, the structure of Uzbekistan’s automotive industry continues to shift, with increasing participation of Chinese brands driven by localization projects for BYD, Haval, and Chery.
Combined output of these three brands reached 10,070 units, accounting for 9.3% of total passenger car production, up from 6.8% a year earlier.
