Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea will strengthen cooperation in the field of labor relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the working visit of the delegation led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva to the Republic of Korea, a meeting was held with the Minister of Employment and Labor of this country, Lee Jung-sik.

The discussion centered on issues such as the importance of the direction in bilateral relations between our countries related to labor relations, the joint development of the legal framework for the implementation of projects in this regard, and the creation of favorable and safe conditions for decent work.

The importance of expanding organized forms of labor migration, ensuring the protection of labor and social rights of citizens traveling to work outside the republic, and implementing joint projects to broadly involve labor migrants returning from abroad into business and labor activities were emphasized.

Considering that 600,000 young people enter the labor market of Uzbekistan every year, an exchange of views took place on the implementation of joint projects to eliminate their unemployment and change their employment prospects, their education and vocational training.

At the same time, special emphasis is placed on the role of the KOICA, which provides assistance in the development of vocational training in Uzbekistan and helps to increase the competitiveness of workers from Uzbekistan in the labor market.

It was noted that the agreements reached in July during the visit of the Minister of Employment and Labor of the Republic of Korea Lee Jung-sik to Uzbekistan, in particular the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the relevant ministries of the Republic of Uzbekistan and South Korea, will take bilateral relations to a new level.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the development of a phased “road map” for the implementation of this memorandum, including joint trainings, organization of statistical data and exchange of experts.
