Uzbekistan and Syria discuss expansion of trade cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is taking steps to expand its foreign economic presence in the Syrian market. On 19 May, a delegation including representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Uzelttehprom Association, the Exporters Association, and major companies in the textile, leather-footwear, and automotive sectors visited the Syrian Arab Republic.
The main purpose of the visit was to promote Uzbek products in new export markets, develop international trade, and strengthen the position of the national “Made in Uzbekistan” brand.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation held a meeting with representatives of the Aleppo city administration and the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Ayubkhan Yunusov also took part in the talks.
The sides discussed prospects for industrial cooperation, expansion of export-import operations, and the launch of joint projects involving businesses from both countries. Particular attention was paid to developing direct contacts between entrepreneurs and creating conditions for long-term partnership.
Chairman of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce Nazem Derawan noted the city’s historical role as a center of textile production and soap manufacturing, emphasizing its potential in the process of economic recovery.
Following the talks, both sides expressed interest in further developing bilateral trade and economic relations and taking cooperation to a new level.
