Uzbekistan and Serbia Sign Education, Science Cooperation Deal
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved an international agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and Serbia on cooperation in education, science, and culture, according to a presidential decree signed on April 30, 2026.
The agreement was signed on October 28, 2025, in Tashkent and sets out a framework for developing bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, scientific research, and cultural exchange.
Under the decree, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the Ministry of Culture have been designated as the responsible bodies for implementing the provisions of the agreement in practice.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to notify the Serbian side of the completion of internal procedures required for the agreement to enter into force, and to provide information on the designated competent authorities.
The document also stipulates that the Cabinet of Ministers and relevant ministries must ensure oversight of the agreement’s implementation once it becomes legally effective. Coordination of execution has been assigned to the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
