The event was dedicated to further strengthening bilateral trade-economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea. It was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of South Korea.
Representatives of ministries and department of Uzbekistan and South Korea, responsible for foreign economic relations, trade and investment, agriculture and water management, banks and finances, constructions, geology, etc.
During the conference, South Korean businesses familiarized with priority directions of investing to Uzbekistan, potential of Uzbekistan in oil and gas sector, banking and finance sector, tourism, automobile and aviation, production of construction materials, agriculture and water management.
The guests familiarized with the privatization process in Uzbekistan, ongoing reforms to development of economy, small and private businesses, preferences at Navoi free industrial and economic zone.
Within the business, the sides inked several bilateral agreements, directed at strengthening cooperation in statistics, environment, geology and mineral resources, light industry.
The volume of trade turnover between two states reached US$1.615 billion in 2010 and it reached US$780 million in January-June 2011.
Currently, some 360 joint ventures, created with Korean partners, are operating in Uzbekistan. About 84 Korean companies have their representative offices in Uzbekistan.
