Uzbek Senate speaker meets new Japanese ambassador
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, held talks with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan, Kenji Hirata.
During the meeting, Narbayeva congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and expressed confidence that his professional experience would contribute to further strengthening Uzbek-Japanese relations, including friendship and the enhanced strategic partnership.
The sides noted the steady development of bilateral cooperation, stressing that political will at the leadership level in both countries has elevated relations to a new qualitative stage.
Particular attention was given to the implementation of previously reached agreements, the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation, and improving the effectiveness of friendship groups. The discussion also focused on strengthening interregional ties.
The parties also exchanged views on prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as boosting cultural and humanitarian exchanges between Uzbekistan and Japan.
Tanzila Narbayeva invited the Japanese diplomat to participate in the Second Asian Women’s Forum, scheduled to take place on 14–15 May in Bukhara.
In addition, information was presented on preparations for the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which is planned for September this year in Samarkand.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.
