Uzbekistan Schoolgirl Murder Case Investigated in Namangan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A schoolgirl in Uzbekistan’s Namangan region was killed in a violent incident following a dispute over a graduation dress, the country’s Prosecutor General’s Office said.

The killing took place in Kasansay district of Namangan region, according to the head of the Prosecutor General’s Office press service, Khayot Shamsutdinov.

Authorities said the incident occurred on May 6 at around 08:30 a.m. Investigators established that a conflict broke out between a 28-year-old man identified as N.M. and an 18-year-old girl identified as K.I., linked to disagreement over a graduation dress.

According to official information, during the altercation the man repeatedly stabbed the girl in the chest and abdomen with a knife before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital, but she died from her injuries.

An investigative team arrived at the scene, and the necessary forensic examinations have been ordered in connection with the case.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Part 1 of Article 97 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which covers intentional homicide. The man has been detained, and investigative actions are ongoing.
