Uzbek officials to pass computer literacy tests
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan will introduce system of assessment of computer literacy of the employees of the bodies of the state and economic management, as well as authorities in places.

Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution “On additional measures on raising skills of workers of the bodies of the state and economic management and state bodies in places and order of attestation on use of computer equipment and information-communication technologies” on 27 October 2011.

According to the resolution, all workers of the state bodies of Uzbekistan should undergo attestation till 1 January 2015and receive certificate on possessing minimal level of computer literacy.

The government entrusted the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI) and other interested bodies to carry out complex measures till 1 January 2012, directed at introducing and functioning system of attestation of employees of the state bodies for minimal level of computer literacy.

The certification will be conducted through testing in real time mode. If the employees successfully pass certification, they will receive corresponding certificate within three days. If they fail, they can take part in certification after two months.

The certificate will be valid for five years. The document said that the system should provide opportunity to check originality of certificate via Internet.

In line with the approved state requirements, the public workers should now legal acts in ICT and their area of specialization. They should also have skills on use information-communication technologies, as well as electronic document flow with e-signature.

The officials should also have skills on use of personnel computers, office applications, Internet, local and corporate networks, e-document flow, email and others at the user level.
