Uzbek companies to begin shipments of goods to Syria

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek companies have agreed to send initial batches of goods to the Syrian market following online negotiations organized with the participation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Ayubkhan Yunusov.

The agreement was reached with the participation of several Uzbek and Syrian companies.

The talks involved heads of companies including Premier Electrotec, Sam-Ferre, Nassar Trading Agro, Metsol, Solis Oils, Technologies of Real Time, as well as Syrian company Kalash Trading. The process on the Uzbek side was coordinated with the participation of the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Davron Vakhabov.

The main topic of discussion was the development of a trading house in Syria, as well as the organization of shipments of Uzbek products to the local market. The sides reviewed demand structure, logistics routes and product presentations.

Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to send 10 truckloads of goods.

According to the distribution, 4 trucks will be loaded with household appliances, 4 with oil products, and 2 with automotive spare parts and motor oil.

It is separately noted that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry offered support to other entrepreneurs interested in entering the Syrian market. A contact phone number was provided for applications.

Earlier, it was reported that the first Uzbek-Syrian trading house was opened in the city of Aleppo with the assistance of Ahmad Kalash. A distribution center for Made in Uzbekistan branded goods operates under the trading house. According to the Chamber of Commerce, delivery time is around 10 days with a cost of approximately US$2,500 per container.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, the export potential of Uzbek goods to Iraq and Syria could reach US$100–150 million, mainly driven by automobiles, auto parts, food products and electrical goods.

It is also noted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev previously announced measures to expand export supplies to Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, including automotive products, electrical goods, textiles and other categories.
