Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in Bukhara between Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, and Kaha Imnadze, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia and Head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
The talks took place in the context of the latest meeting of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan and focused on expanding women’s participation in public and state life, as well as strengthening regional cooperation.
The parties noted that in a short period the Dialogue of Women Leaders platform has become an effective mechanism for regional engagement aimed at supporting women’s leadership and promoting joint initiatives among countries in the region.
Special attention was given to the fact that the chairmanship of the Dialogue has passed to Uzbekistan. Based on previously reached agreements, the Senate of Uzbekistan has prepared an annual program of activities, and proposals are being discussed to extend the chairmanship to two years and establish a permanent secretariat.
The discussions also addressed preparations for the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, scheduled for September 2026 in Samarkand. In this context, the participation of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia was discussed, along with the possibility of holding a thematic side event dedicated to the role of youth in preventive diplomacy.
In addition, the parties exchanged views on protecting women and youth from violence, organizing joint seminars, and expanding the exchange of best practices in this area.
