Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the forty-fifth plenary meeting of the Senate, the Law “On introducing additions and amendments to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Prosecutor’s Office” in connection with the determination of additional measures to ensure the rule of law in the system of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was considered.

It was noted that in recent years, large-scale work has been carried out to form a modern armed and powerful army, to support military personnel and employees of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

At the same time, further strengthening of supervision is required over the timely and effective organization of the implementation of state programs in the military sphere, early warning of corruption risks in the system of protecting the rights and freedoms of military personnel, including cases of misuse of funds from the State Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as over the implementation of the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan in this area.

In connection with this, this Law introduces additions and changes to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Prosecutor’s Office”, providing for strengthening the supervision of the military prosecutor’s office over strict compliance with the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the system of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as establishing the procedure for recruiting employees for military service in the military the prosecutor’s office and dismissal from it, and the procedure for assigning them military ranks.

It is established that persons at least twenty-five years of age are appointed to the positions of the Prosecutor General, Military Prosecutor, Transport Prosecutor, Prosecutor of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, prosecutors of regions and the city of Tashkent, as well as prosecutors of districts, cities and equivalent prosecutors.

In addition, the legislation establishes the powers of the Military Prosecutor, Transport Prosecutor, regional prosecutors, the city of Tashkent to manage, accordingly, the activities of the prosecutor’s offices of districts, cities and equivalent prosecutor’s offices, on the basis and in pursuance of laws, orders of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan to issue orders, instructions, instructions mandatory for subordinate employees.

According to the senators, the adoption of this Law, along with increasing the responsibility of the prosecutor’s office, will improve the efficiency of their work, serve to fully fulfill the tasks assigned by law and, as a result, ensure the rights and interests of citizens.

After questions and answers and discussion at the meeting, this Law was approved by the senators.
