Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 March 2023, the 97th meeting of the CIS Economic Council was held at the World Trade Center in Moscow under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the CIS Economic Council, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev, during which a broad range of issues of economic cooperation between the CIS member states, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.

The meeting was attended by Member of the CIS Economic Council, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov, Member of the CIS Economic Council, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Igor Petrishenko, Member of the CIS Economic Council, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin , Member of the CIS Economic Council, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, Member of the CIS Economic Council, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamashid Kuchkarov, Secretary of State - Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alexei Khersontsev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Belarus, Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the statutory and other bodies of the CIS Razmik Khumaryan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Russian Federation, Plenipotentiary Representative in the CEV Davlatshoh Gulmakhmadzoda, CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev.

The members of the Economic Council heard information about the activities of the Intergovernmental Council on the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2019-2022. It was noted that the deepening of cooperation in the agro-industrial sphere contributes to an increase in the volume of mutual trade, access to the markets of third countries, ensuring food security in the Commonwealth space, as well as strengthening the positions of agricultural producers of the CIS member states in world markets.

During the meeting, the draft Main Directions for Cooperation between the CIS Member States on the Formation of Public Acceptability of Nuclear Energy was considered. The document is aimed at promoting the formation of a positive public perception of the nuclear industry and raising the level of awareness of the population of the CIS member states about nuclear energy.

In addition, a number of documents were signed:

- on the activities of the centers for the commercialization of innovations of the member states of the Interstate Program for Innovative Cooperation of the CIS Member States for the period up to 2030. In which we are talking about the active work of the established centers to support the start-up movement and small innovative entrepreneurship.

- draft Agreement on interaction between the CIS member states in the exchange of radiation monitoring data, prepared by the Commission of the CIS member states on the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. The main goal of the document is to promote the implementation of the tasks of ensuring nuclear and radiation safety in the CIS space.

  - a report on the activities of the Interstate Council "Radionavigation" in 2018–2021, which reflects the main results of the work of the Council on the development and joint use of radio navigation systems and radio navigation aids by consumers of all types of transport, the solution of target tasks for geodesy, geology, land management, as well as performance of work in the Commonwealth of Independent States aimed at creating integrated radio navigation fields and providing all consumers with navigation information.

- Draft Protocol on Amendments to the Agreement on the Rules for Determining the Country of Origin of Goods in the Commonwealth of Independent States from 20 November 2009. It envisages changes to individual TN VED codes from the List of conditions, production and technological operations, under which the goods are considered to originate from the country in which they took place (Appendix 1 to the Rules), due to the need to bring them into line with the new edition TN VED CIS, which entered into force on January 1, 2022. Proposals for updating TN VED codes are submitted by the Federal Customs Service (Russian Federation).

  - information on the implementation of the Long-term plan for joint work on the exploration, use and protection of the subsoil of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2021–2025.

Its analysis shows that the implementation of the Perspective Plan contributes to the deepening of cooperation between the geological services of the CIS member states on many issues

  - Action plan for the implementation of the Agreement on cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of waste management of electronic and electrical equipment from 1 June  2018 for the period up to 2030. The implementation of the Plan will help optimize the operation of existing and develop new production facilities for the disposal of waste electronic and electrical equipment, as well as create conditions for advanced training in the field of handling this waste, exchange of experience and knowledge in this area.

- on the basic organization of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of training specialists for the creative industries, hospitality and congress and exhibition activities. The federal state budgetary educational institution of higher education "St. Petersburg State University of Economics" (SPbSUE) is recommended as a base organization.

SPbSUE has many years of experience in developing long-term cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of education, as well as the established scientific and methodological base for the training and retraining of scientific and pedagogical staff and specialists in new areas of economic activity.

- on the preparation and conduct of the 2020 round of population censuses in the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The information provided shares information on the census in the CIS member states: in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Belarus in October 2019, the Republic of Tajikistan - in October 2020; The Republic of Kazakhstan - in September-October 2021, the Russian Federation - in October-November 2021, the Kyrgyz Republic - in March-April 2022, the Republic of Armenia - in October 2022, Turkmenistan - in December 2022. In the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the census is scheduled for 2024.

- on amendments to the Decision of the Council of CIS Heads of Government from 19 November 2010 on the main target macroeconomic indicators for the development of the economy of the CIS member states, prepared by the CIS Executive Committee jointly with the CIS Statistical Committee in order to clarify the formation of a number of indicators, taking into account the methodology established in the CIS member states and practices.

It is assumed that the results of the analysis of the main target macroeconomic indicators will form a complete picture of the economic development of the Commonwealth, and can also be used by economic and financial departments to develop national plans for the development of economic sectors.

By the decision of the Economic Council, the status of the center for the commercialization of innovations of the member states of the Interstate Program for Innovative Cooperation of the CIS Member States for the period up to 2030 was given to the Science Foundation of the Republic of Kazakhstan (it is a subordinate organization of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan).

The Fund is entrusted with the task of ensuring the interaction of scientists and business in promoting the results of scientific and technical activities in the domestic and foreign markets, assisting the subjects of scientific and technical activities in the implementation of scientific research, experimental design, commercialization of the results of scientific and technical activities, including through support and monitoring of projects at all stages of implementation, attraction of investments, search for partners, etc.

The meeting also considered a number of issues related to the financing of the CIS bodies.

The next meeting of the Economic Council is scheduled for 23 June 2023 in Moscow.
