Tashkent Region Explores Spanish AgriTech Innovation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Region, led by regional governor Zoir Mirzaev, is on a working visit to the Kingdom of Spain to study advanced experience in greenhouse farming, seed production, and agricultural technologies.
The main objective of the visit is to expand cooperation with Spanish greenhouse equipment manufacturers and agro-industrial companies, as well as to introduce modern technologies into Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.
As part of the trip, regional representatives are holding talks in the province of Almería, which is considered one of the world’s largest greenhouse production hubs.
Greenhouse complexes in Almería cover around 31,000 hectares and supply significant volumes of vegetables to the European market. The local agricultural model is based on intensive farming in arid conditions, drip irrigation, and hydroponic technologies.
The delegation visited the Spanish company Future Farms Solutions S.L., which specializes in the development of agricultural technology solutions.
The company focuses on high-tech greenhouse systems, digital agricultural management, the use of artificial intelligence in agro-monitoring, as well as energy-efficient and water-saving technologies.
During talks, the sides discussed prospects for establishing modern greenhouse clusters in the Tashkent Region, introducing automated climate control systems, digitizing the agricultural sector, and transferring agro-engineering solutions.
Both sides noted that such cooperation could improve production efficiency and increase output of high value-added agricultural goods.
Special attention during the visit was given to seed production. The delegation visited Grupo Cristalplant S.L., one of the leading companies in Almería specializing in seedling production and crop grafting.
The enterprise has a production capacity of up to 300 million seedlings per year and operates on around 30 hectares, using automated systems and laboratory technologies for plant germination and regeneration.
During the meeting with company management, the parties discussed potential cooperation in seed production, the establishment of modern nurseries, and the introduction of innovative agricultural technologies in the Tashkent Region.
The sides exchanged experience on high-tech solutions, emphasizing their importance for increasing yields and developing export-oriented agriculture.
In addition, the delegation visited Nature Choice S.L., where they were introduced to systems for sorting, distributing, and supplying agricultural products to domestic and European markets.
The visit also included discussions on logistical and technological aspects of the agricultural production chain.
