Tashkent hosts seminar for journalists on drug trafficking
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Public Fund for support and development of independent print media and information agencies of Uzbekistan held a seminar “Role and place of mass media in fighting illegal import and turnover of drugs and psychotropic products” in Tashkent o 28 February 2013.

The main goal of the seminar is to familiarize journalists of central print media of Uzbekistan with legislation and measures, implemented in Uzbekistan, on combating illegal turnover of drugs and psychotropic products.

MPs, representatives of National information-analytical center on control over drugs under Cabinet of Ministers, Insitute of Strategic and inter-regional studies under the President of Uzbekistan, Central Council of Public Youth Movement Kamolot, Ministry of Interior Affairs and National Center “Manaviyat va Marifat” participated at the event.

During the meeting, it was said that Uzbekistan joins several international documents and cooperates within the UNODC, CIS, SCO and other regional organizations.

Uzbekistan carries out wide-scale preventing work within the programme of complex measures on combating drug addiction and illegal drugs turnover for 2011-2015. The country implements several measures to enforce legislation of Uzbekistan directed at preventing drug addiction and fighting their illegal turnover in the country.

During the seminar, the participants received detailed information on interaction of law enforcement bodies and self-governing institutions in fighting illegal drug turnover. They also familiarized with legislative acts of Uzbekistan, directed at preventing illegal drug trafficking.

The participants exchanged opinion and shared their recommendations on strengthening work of journalists in coverage of work, conducted in fighting illegal drug trafficking in Uzbekistan.
