Tashkent and Tianjin Expand Trade and Economic Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  As part of an official visit by a delegation from the city of Tashkent to the People’s Republic of China, a meeting was held between the Mayor of the capital Shavkat Umurzakov and the Mayor of Tianjin Zhang Gong.

The sides discussed further expansion of bilateral cooperation, strengthening of trade and economic ties, as well as the creation of a favorable business environment and investment climate in Tashkent.

It was noted that over recent years the volume of trade relations between the two cities has increased by 58%.

Particular attention during the talks was paid to supporting Chinese investors and facilitating joint projects. The leadership of Tianjin supported the initiative of the Tashkent city administration to establish a permanent coordination office (representation) for operational interaction with Chinese investors and project implementation support.

The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation with Tianjin Urban Construction, which expressed interest in implementing projects related to drainage systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and irrigation infrastructure in Tashkent.

It was noted that the company has significant international experience in urban engineering infrastructure, and the Tianjin city administration is ready to support the implementation of these projects.

The sides emphasized that the development of interregional cooperation has been made possible by the high dynamics of bilateral relations and the political will of the leadership of Uzbekistan and China.
