Share of small business in Uzbekistan’s GDP reaches 42.2%
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Share of small businesses and private entrepreneurship in the gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan made 42.2% in the first half of 2011 compared to 41.1% in the same period of 2010, the article of the Ministry of Economy and the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

Share of small businesses in the industry made up 18.6% in the first half of 2011 (16.7%), in exports – 132% (10.8%) and in employment – 74.5% (73.5%).

The growth of industrial output in small business made up 20.4%, the article said.

In the first six months, the volume of issued loans to small and private banks made up 2.049 trillion soums or grew by 1.5 times year-on-year, including 399.6 billion soums of microloans with 1.5 times growth.

The measures on expanding access of small and private businesses to raw materials helped to increase goods purchased by them at exchange trades by 1.4 times They also increased sales of their goods through exchange by 1.5 times.

Within introduction of new order on public procurement, the government purchased goods and services for 44.6 billion soums from small businesses, which makes up 89% of total state procurements through electronic trades.

In the first half of 2011, number of new registered small businesses made up 22,800 and number of launched production capacities by small businesses reached 524, including 112 in light industry, 147 in construction materials industry, 190 – food industry and 19 – timber processing and others.

Small businesses exported goods for US$954.3 million, including US$65.8 million at the assistance of foreign trade companies.
