Turkmenistan has proposed to Russia that construction of a new Caspian pipeline to carry Central Asian gas to international markets via Russia begin sooner than the previously agreed start date in the second half of 2008, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov said Friday.
Russia is the largest trade partner of Uzbekistan in the result of the third quarter of 2007, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said.
Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan grew by 27.1% year-on-year to US$10.097 billion in January-September 2007, the quarterly report of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan increased by 9.8% year-on-year to 18.23 trillion soums, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said.
Small businesses in Uzbekistan produced 43.1% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) in January-September 2007, the Uzbek State Statistic Committee said. It added that the small business sector manufactured 39% in the same period of 2006.

A gas pipeline supplying Russia with natural gas from Central Asia will be modernized to pump 230 million cubic meters per day, the president of Turkmenistan said on Thursday.
Russian and Uzbekistan may sign an agreement on integrating the Chkalov Tashkent Aviation Production Association into the Associated Aviation Construction Corp. (AACC) on 28-29 November, Russian Kommersant newspaper reported on 22 November.
