Roundtable discusses social orders in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Center for Economic Research (CER) hosted a roundtable titled “Social orders as tool for social partnership: experience and perspectives” on 18 August 2011.

Representatives of the government, NGOS, international institutions, as well as independent experts participated in the event, directed at exchange of opinion on increasing role and the volume of social orders in Uzbekistan.

Participants discussed preliminary results of research “Development of system of social orders in interest of strengthening NGOs sector”, which demonstrates need for improving social orders system in Uzbekistan.

According to the legislation, social orders are tasks for execution of works or organization of events on implementation of socially important projects, in line with the proposal of the state bodies and based on decision of the parliamentary commission on management of the funds of Public Fund on support of NGOs and civil society under the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

Expansion of social orders in Uzbekistan can serve as significant impulse for development of social society. It was said that procedures and mechanisms of issuing, implementation and monitoring of social orders in Uzbekistan should be improved in line with international experience and priorities of civil society development in Uzbekistan.

During the roundtable, participants underlined necessity to improve legislation to fully use social orders’ potential, which will expand attraction of resources of the state bodies, local and foreign investors.
