Price dynamics of food products in Tashkent supermarkets in February 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Experts from the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (IMRI) conducted a regular price monitoring of food products in the largest retail chains of the capital in February 2025. The study covered 21 types of products.
The monitoring results showed that the minimum prices for six items decreased compared to January. The most significant price drop was recorded for potatoes, which became 26.1% cheaper due to an increase in imports from Pakistan following a price surge in January. Red carrots also saw a decrease in price by 11.3%, followed by table beets (8.2%), eggs (7.8%), milk (0.9%), and sugar (0.4%).
At the same time, the minimum prices for eight items increased. The sharpest rise was observed for white cabbage, which was attributed to seasonal factors. Cucumbers also became noticeably more expensive; however, compared to the same period last year, their price remains 30% lower.
For seven items, price levels remained unchanged. These included wheat flour, rice, buckwheat, pasta, apples, bananas, and chicken fillet.
The monitoring data is based on a comparison of prices recorded on January 9 and February 6, 2025.
