President of Uzbekistan visits Bukhara State Medical Institute

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 August, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the new building of Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sina.

Before the institution’s buildings were located in different places, they were built in the 50-60s of the last century. The Institute did not even have a clinic. As part of the investment program, a new complex was built and operated in May.

The educational building for 900 people, a clinic for 200 beds, a training and simulation center, a vivarium, a gym, and student hostels for 1.2 thousand people are located in one place. A branch of the Institute of Immunology and Human Genomics of the Academy of Science was also organized.

Today, the institute trains specialists in 9 areas: general medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, advanced nursing courses, medical pedagogy, medical prevention, medical biology, traditional treatment, and pharmacy. 568 professors and lecturers teach them.

– The Institute turned out to be worthy of New Uzbekistan. Now its scientific potential should serve our people. We have a Medical Academy, specialized research centers, and regional institutes. What return do our people receive from them? To do this, it is necessary to assign them to the regions, to create a healthy medical and social environment. It is possible, for example, to pay allowances to specialists to reduce the incidence in assigned mahallas. Figuratively speaking, from the point of view of prevention, they should protect the 36 million population like an umbrella, – Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The importance of organizing phytobars in mahallas, raising awareness of the benefits of medicinal plants, and creating a pharmaceutical cluster in Bukhara was emphasized.

The project for developing the city of Bukhara was also considered here.

The need to improve the tourist infrastructure and expand conditions for visitors in the historical part of Bukhara was noted. It is planned to transfer the western part of Tudakul reservoir to Bukhara region and organize resorts there.

– To achieve a stable economy in Bukhara, we need to increase the tourism potential by 10 times. We must think not only about today and next year, but also 50 years ahead. If 10 million tourists come to the region, the volume of services will increase accordingly, incomes will grow many times, – the Head of state said.

Thereupon, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev completed his visit to Bukhara region and returned to Tashkent.
