Air Products to invest US$10 billion in high-tech projects in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During his working visit to the United States, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Products, Seifi Ghasemi.

Geoffrey Pyatt, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Energy Resources, also attended the meeting.

Issues of further enhancing the strategic partnership with the leading American company, the progress of implementation of current projects, and specific plans for the future were discussed.

Air Products is implementing projects in Uzbekistan to process industrial gases at Uzbekistan GTL, producing synthesis gas, oxygen, nitrogen, and liquefied carbon dioxide at the Navoiazot base.

Over the past two years, direct investments from the company amounting to over US$1 billion have been attracted to the development of these projects.

During the conversation, promising projects for coal gasification, production of technical gases, hydrogen and ammonium, and utilization of acid gases were discussed.

Air Products experts will also take part in developing the necessary regulatory framework for decarbonization.

In addition, the portfolio of projects includes the introduction of innovative developments in the food industry.

Following the meeting, agreements were exchanged on implementing a new investment program for Air Products in Uzbekistan worth over US$10 billion.

For his contribution to enhancing Uzbekistan-American multifaceted cooperation and support of irreversible reforms in the country, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally presented the Chairman of Air Products, Seifi Ghasemi, with a high state award – the “Dustlik” (Friendship) Order.
