Biennale of Islamic Art opens in Jeddah
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A grand opening of the first Biennial of Islamic Art in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) took place, which will last until 23 April 2023.
The Art and Culture Development Foundation presents a unique exposition at the Biennale, consisting of 17 museum items of ethnography and textiles, which open up the rich Islamic culture of Uzbekistan to an international audience.
The exposition includes the Kattalangar Quran of the 8th century, ceramic jugs and bowls from Samarkand and Afrasiab of the 10th-12th centuries, a copy of the al-Sahih book of the famous hadith scholar al-Bukhari of the 17th century, men’s robes and shoes from Bukhara, and other exhibits.
The Biennial of Islamic Art is organized by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia.
