Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Central Securities Depository (CSD) has published an infographic on the share of foreign owners of shares in domestic joint stock companies as of 1 August 2021, CorpInfo Telegram channel reports.
According to the CSD, foreigners account for only 0.32% of the total shareholding. At the same time, in the total volume of shares in circulation, foreigners own 2.26%, while at the beginning of the year this figure was 1.51%.
At the par value of the shares held, investors from Kazakhstan own shares worth 1.15 trillion soums. Investors from Singapore follow in terms of the amount of shares owned with 462.5 billion soums. Great Britain ranks third in this indicator (385.9 billion soums).
In terms of the number of shareholders, Russia is the leader (1437 individuals and legal entities). The second place is occupied by Kazakhstan (402), followed by Tajikistan (297). Presumably, the bulk of these shareholders are members of the labor collectives of enterprises that were corporatized in the 1990s and early 2000s who changed their citizenship.
Russian investors are also the first in terms of the number of joint-stock companies in which they own shares (197). It is noteworthy that according to this indicator, investors from Switzerland are in second place (111).
