Tashkent city and Kashkadarya region are leaders on business development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Largest number of enterprises and organizations were registered in Tashkent city and Kashkadarya region in 2010, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The committee said that that 7,092 enterprises and organization (except farms) were recorded in Tashkent city and 4,236 enterprises in Kashkadarya region in the reporting period.

Lowest number of enterprises and organizations were registered in Navoi (980) and Syrdarya (1,355) regions in 2010, the committee said.

According to the committee, some 37,062 enterprises and organizations were created in Uzbekistan in 2010.

Tashkent city (4,334 units), Bukhara region (3,429) and Kashkadarya region (3,165) were leading on number of liquidated enterprises.

Lowest number of enterprises was closed in Surdarya region (547), Jizzakh region (635) and Navoi region (799). Overall, number of liquidated enterprises in Uzbekistan reached 24,148 units in 2010.

As of 1 January 2011, total number of registered enterprises in Uzbekistan made up 283,421, of which 48,138 were registered in Kashkadarya region and 43,717 units in Tashkent city and 24,333 in Ferghana region.

Only 7,890 and 8,041 enterprises were registered in Syrdarya and Navoi regions respectively, which is the lowest figures in Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the largest number of enterprises were recorded in trade and catering – 76,330 units, agriculture and forestry sector– 57,056 and industry – 35,471.

The share of state enterprises in total number of registered enterprises made up 13.9% and non-state 86.1%, including 37.9% - private enterprises.

As earlier reported, Uzbekistan announced 2011 as the Year of Small Business and Private Entrepreneurship. Uzbek President Islam Karimov approved the state programme “The Year of Small Business and Private Entrepreneurship” on 7 February 2011, which envisages wide-scale measures on creation of favourable conditions for small and private businesses in the country.
