Pharmaceutical safety center joins GMDN

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of its international collaboration efforts, the Pharmaceutical Safety Center has taken another significant step by becoming a member of the Global Medical Device Nomenclature (GMDN) Agency.

GMDN is an international system for naming and classifying medical devices, aimed at standardizing medical products worldwide. This system is widely used by leading regulatory bodies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and the UK's Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

As Uzbekistan advances its healthcare reforms under presidential leadership, aligning the pharmaceutical and medical sectors with international standards and strengthening global partnerships remains a key priority.

Joining the GMDN plays a crucial role in enhancing Uzbekistan’s international reputation as a reliable healthcare partner. It not only improves the national system for quality control and medical device safety but also facilitates the integration of local regulatory practices into global processes.

Additionally, GMDN membership provides access to a unified global database of medical devices, creating new opportunities for domestic manufacturers and importers. This step simplifies compliance with international regulations and accelerates Uzbekistan’s integration into the global pharmaceutical and medical industries.
