Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the forty-fifth plenary meeting of the Senate, the Law “On introducing additions and changes to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of pharmaceutical activities” was considered.

Today, the country is consistently working to provide the population with high-quality, effective and safe pharmaceutical products, to introduce advanced scientific and technical achievements and innovations in the pharmaceutical industry, and to increase production volumes in the industry.

At the same time, there is a need to further increase the investment attractiveness of the industry, lift some restrictions in the industry in order to establish in our country the production of medicines from donor blood, improve the procedure for conducting clinical trials of pharmacological and medicinal products, as well as revise the conditions for registration of medicines and pharmaceutical products

This Law makes additions and changes to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Medicines and Pharmaceutical Activities”, envisaging the possibility of voluntary participation in clinical trials of pharmacological or medicinal products of healthy persons, changing the validity periods of registration certificates of medicines, medical devices and medical equipment for domestic manufacturers, also creating conditions for registration of medicines from the same manufacturer, having the same composition of medicinal substances, under different trade names.

The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Donation of Blood and Its Components” is also being amended to allow pharmaceutical organizations specializing in the production of pharmaceutical products from donor blood and its components on a private basis to collect, prepare, process and store donor blood and its components.

The senators noted that the Law will cover the need for blood products through local production and ensure the production of new types of medicines.

The law was approved by senators.
