According to the department, the number of active population of Uzbekistan is 13.2 million people.

Of these, 5.8 million people are officially employed, which is 44% of the country’s active population.

The State Tax Committee notes that the remainder of this category of the population, including labor migrants, is on the “shadow” labor market and receives a salary “in envelopes”.
