Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, led by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Starostin, visited Uzbekistan on a working trip that resulted in preliminary agreements on developing joint projects in information technology, industrial cooperation, agriculture and workforce training.
During the visit, talks were held with First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan Oleg Pekos, Acting Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade Roksana Nesor, as well as officials from regional administrations in Kashkadarya, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions and the Chirchik Industrial Technopark.
The parties discussed the expansion of Nizhny Novgorod IT companies into the Uzbek market, cooperation with the interuniversity IT campus “NEIMARK,” and the launch of joint educational and technological initiatives. Uzbek representatives were invited to participate in the CIPR-2026 conference to be held in Nizhny Novgorod.
During a visit to the Chirchik technopark, the delegation reviewed conditions for production localization and the activities of Russian resident companies. Currently, 28 firms operate at the site, benefiting from tax incentives and preferences. According to Starostin, the potential for Nizhny Novgorod enterprises to utilize the platform remains underexploited.
Meetings with regional representatives in Uzbekistan also covered supplies of goods from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, including food products, development of agro-industrial projects, and exchanges of technical specialists.
Following the visit, the parties agreed to continue work on specific initiatives, including organizing return visits by Uzbek delegations to Nizhny Novgorod, holding business meetings and launching new joint projects.
The delegation also took part in the international industrial exhibition INNOPROM. Central Asia, held in Tashkent from 20 to 22 April 2026. The business mission included representatives of companies producing charcoal, children’s furniture, coal briquettes and metallurgical semi-finished products.
The cooperation is being developed within the framework of Russia’s national project “International Cooperation and Export,” aimed at expanding foreign economic ties and supporting businesses through regional “My Business” centers that provide advisory and organizational assistance.
