New NGO Development Stage Launched in Tashkent with Coworking Center and Expert Platform
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has opened a modern coworking center in the “House of NGOs” in Tashkent as part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening civil society institutions and expanding the role of non-governmental non-profit organizations (NGOs).
The initiative was implemented by the National Association of NGOs of Uzbekistan together with the Public Fund for Support of NGOs and included an open dialogue with sector representatives.
Officials emphasized that in recent years the country has developed a new legal and institutional framework for NGO activity. The establishment of “Houses of NGOs” in all regions has provided organizations with office space free of rent costs, allowing them to focus more on social projects.
The newly launched coworking center is designed to function as a communication and collaboration platform for NGOs. It will facilitate networking, experience sharing, and partnership development, including participation from regional organizations.
During the dialogue, participants noted the growing need for professional development and methodological support alongside financial assistance. In response, an expert group is being formed to provide consulting services, including guidance on cooperation with international donors.
Discussions also addressed transparency in grant distribution and the need to expand technical capabilities of regional NGOs. The platform is expected to help identify practical solutions and set priorities for the sector’s further development.
At the end of the event, an updated website of the National Association of NGOs and mobile applications for members were presented.
Authorities expect that these measures will further strengthen civil society institutions and improve their contribution to the country’s social and economic development.
