Minister of Higher Education takes part in the “Science and Technology in Society” forum held in Japan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 October, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov took part in the opening ceremony of the “Science and Technology in Society” forum held in Japan.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida opened the event. F. Kishida in his speech paid special attention to the problems and prospects of artificial intelligence, which, according to him, is becoming an integral part of all aspects of life. He called for cooperation from the international community on regulation, governance and ethical standards for the use of artificial intelligence.

The main theme of the forum is “What do we want from science and technology?” Participants in the opening ceremony identified the need to look at science and technology as a means of adequately responding to the most pressing challenges of our time.

In his speech at the international conference on science and technology, the President of the US National Academy of Sciences M. McNatt drew attention to the importance of the ethical and responsible use of technology to solve modern challenges. He also called on states and the scientific community to learn from mistakes made and develop technologies in line with sustainable development goals.

Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Y. Nishimura said that Japan’s policy to develop artificial intelligence and develop this technology can take economic growth to a new level.
