“At the edge of fashion and art”, this is how the Italian media (in particular, Sfilate Moda Magazine) described the Uzbek designers’ debut at one of the world`s major fashion weeks. According to fashionweekdaily.com, this fashion show became one of the most popular and visited during the Milan Fashion Week.
Among the guests there were lots of famous personalities of the fashion and art world: Mario Boselli President of the National Italian Fashion Chamber, Fawaz Gruosi founder and president de Grisogono, Ferruccio Ferragamo President of the Salvatore Ferragamo fashion house, designers Riva Lorenzo and Marta Marzotto, Eva Cavalli, Alexander Shumsky President of the Russian Fashion Week, Juan Laporta President of FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi and Fabio Cannavaro, Belen Rodriguez, Fabrizio Corona head of the "Corona`s" photo agency, Prielvigi Loro Piana, Helena Yarmak, Ermanno Scervino, Lorenzo Riva, Julio Iglesias, Rafaella FicoBeppe Modenese, Paolo Maldini and others. The show was hosted by Melba Ruffo di Calabria.
Collections of Uzbek designers presented a unique combination of national traditions and modern fashion trends, unique heritage, complemented by skill and fresh vision of national designers. Guests can defile to discover the best of Uzbekistan - famous traditional silks, made by restored unique ancient weaving technology, precious fabrics, millenary embroideries, interpreted by Uzbek designers with an exceptional innovation and fresh approach. The GULI collection, developed by Gulnara Karimova the author of the project, was of particular interest.
Some of the GULI for CHOPARD collection pieces were also a introduced later the same day. The Collection was created after the involvement of CHOPARD Vice-President Caroline Gruosi Scheufele to the Style.uz Art Week in Tashkent and presented at the Baselworld 2008 in Switzerland.
After the show at the Gala-dinner Julio Iglesias performed a special music program. His joint performance with an instrumental ensemble "Ofarin" under the leadership of Abdukhoshim Ismoilov provoked stormy ovations becoming another surprise for the organizers.
There was also a small auction organized, most of the fund raised from which will be directed to help people suffered from disastrous earthquake in the Italian city of Abruzzo in April this year.
