Israel is interested in developing scientific cooperation with Uzbekistan01/10/2023 15:01

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the consistent development of cooperation with Israel in the field of education and scientific research, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Feruza Mahmudova met with the President of the Academy of Sciences, Professor David Harel, President of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Professor Asher Cohen, President of the University Technion, Professor Uri Sivan and Director of the Blaustein Institute for Desert Research at the University of St. Ben-Gurion in the Negev by Noam Weisbrod, Dunyo news agency reported.

They discussed the agenda of cooperation between universities and research institutes of Uzbekistan and Israel.

In particular, the practice of regular interaction between the academies of sciences of the two countries was discussed, including by attracting members of the Israeli Academy of Sciences to participate in international forums in Uzbekistan.

Currently, issues of organizing the first Uzbek-Israeli archaeological expedition in the history of bilateral relations in Samarkand region with the participation of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem are being studied.

The President of the Technion University, Professor Uri Sivan, expressed the university’s interest in developing partnerships following the visits of delegations from the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi and the Tashkent branch of Inha University.

Professor Noam Weisbrod highly appreciated the work being done in Uzbekistan to mitigate the negative consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea and improve the environmental situation in this region following his July trip.

Interest in establishing a cooperation agenda with the Central Asian University of Environmental Studies and Climate Change (Green University) and the International Agricultural University was confirmed.
