IPMI experts studied the activities on technical regulation in Uzbekistan for 2017-2022

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Experts from the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IPMI) studied the activities on technical regulation in Uzbekistan for 2017-2022.

Technical regulation plays a significant role in improving the efficiency of the economy, ensuring the reliability, safety, interoperability and quality of the products supplied.

As a result of the reforms carried out in recent years in this area:

- the legal framework has been strengthened, including the adoption of the Laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Metrology”, “On Standardization”, “On Technical Regulation”, “On Accreditation of Conformity Assessment Bodies”

- developed within the framework of the strategy "Digital Uzbekistan - 2030" information systems "e-standard", "e-metrology" and "e-accreditation"

- the number of standards harmonized with international requirements increased to 19.5 thousand, their share in the total number increased from 10% to 80.4%;

- the number of implemented international technical regulations increased by 4.8 times (from 12 to 57).

In accordance with the international standard ISO 9001, in order to develop export potential, 4961 enterprises of various industries have implemented Quality Management Systems.

The introduction of the Korkhonabay system in the industry, aimed at promoting the improvement of the quality of products and services, made it possible to use specific mechanisms for direct interaction with business entities.

Events were held at 14.9 thousand enterprises, practical assistance was provided in the areas of standardization (more than 5 thousand events), metrology (more than 21 thousand events), certification of 1.4 thousand types of products.

Testing laboratories in the system of the Agency for Technical Regulation have been modernized or equipped with new equipment, 4 laboratories have received international accreditation, 13 new laboratories have been created.

The State Unitary Enterprise "Uzbek Accreditation Center" was accepted as a full member of the International Organization for Laboratory Accreditation (ILAC MRA), the results of tests conducted in Uzbekistan are recognized in 116 countries of the world.

International standards Oeko Tex, GOTS, BCSI, Sedex, Global GAP, Organic, CE and others have been implemented at 157 textile enterprises, 225 enterprises in the agricultural and food sectors and 53 enterprises in the electrical industry.

The formed system of technical regulation will contribute to the further effective development of industries and the economy of Uzbekistan as a whole, as well as the protection of consumer rights.
