IPMI experts analyse the demographics of change in enterprises and organisations operating in Uzbekistan in 2017-2022

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Ensuring employment and improving the welfare of the population through increasing the number of business entities is one of the priority directions of economic reforms in Uzbekistan.

According to the Statistics Agency, the total number of enterprises and organizations operating in Uzbekistan in 2022, excluding private farms and dehkan farms, is 592,400, which is 2.1 times more than in 2017. 

The largest increase in the number of business entities was observed in the following regions: Navoi (2.7 times), Samarkand (2.6 times), Kashkadarya (2.3 times), Surkhandarya (2.3 times), Bukhara and Jizzak regions (2.2 times).

An analysis of the types of economic activity of enterprises has shown that there has been dynamic growth in the number of enterprises in: trade (2.9 times), agriculture (2.6 times), accommodation and catering (2.1 times) and industry (2.0 times). 

Considering the role of industry in the economic growth and macroeconomic stability of the country, a positive factor is the doubling of the number of enterprises, whose share has reached almost 17.0%. 

The positive structural changes taking place in the economy are evidenced by an increase in the number of IT enterprises (1.9 times) and medical services (2 times).
