Government delegation of Uzbekistan visits China

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 October, a delegation of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the city of Hangzhou of the People’s Republic of China.

A meeting of government delegations led by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and the Prime Minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qian took place at the Hangzhou Huaxia State Residence.

At the meeting, it was noted that through the joint efforts of the leaders of our countries, bilateral and multilateral relations are being strengthened, and trade and economic cooperation is rapidly developing.

China is a reliable, time-tested strategic partner of Uzbekistan.

Trade is experiencing regular growth. In particular, in 2022, mutual trade turnover between our countries amounted to almost US$9 billion.

In order to increase the volume of mutual trade, the leaders of the two countries set a task for the governments to bring it to US$10 billion.

At the meeting, it was noted that there is every opportunity not only to achieve this result, but also to increase mutual trade turnover to US$12-13 billion.

In particular, there is an opportunity to increase the volume of exports to China of textiles, copper, mineral fertilizers, agricultural and other types of products.

In turn, large investment projects with the participation of Chinese capital are being implemented in our country. In particular, since 2017, more than US$11 billion of Chinese investments have been disbursed in Uzbekistan. Today, there are about 2 thousand joint ventures with Chinese capital in our country.

At the same time, the importance of implementing promising projects in the fields of “green” energy, automotive industry, electrical engineering, processing of non-ferrous and rare metals, “smart” agriculture, agricultural and water-saving technologies was noted. For this purpose, it was proposed to create an Uzbek-Chinese industrial park based on modern technologies.

At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on filling the economic agenda of the upcoming high-level negotiations with specific new promising projects, and on the state of implementation of the agreements reached.

Also, as part of the visit to Hangzhou, meetings were held with the leadership of large Chinese companies, such as Huawei, Energy China International, and the Silk Road Fund to expand bilateral cooperation.

The working visit of the government delegation of Uzbekistan to China continues.
