During the meeting, management of Uzbektourism called the Uzbek companies actively invest into tourism sector of Khorezm region.

Shortage of hotel rooms during peak of tourism season hinder to growth of foreign tourists. In this connection, it is planned to construct four hotels in main street of Urgench – Al-Khorezm street. Small hotels, designed in special thematic style, will provide comfortable rooms to tourists.

The project attracted interest of businesses from Khorezm region and Uzbektourism received seven applications from small and private businesses, which wish to invest own resources to hotel construction. The commercial banks, which participated at the meeting, proposed to co-finance projects on long-term basis.

During the meeting, it was noted that the region is not using investment opportunities to tourism sector fully.

Khorezm region has large number of sights, which attract foreign tourists. Tourists arrive in the region to familiarize with Khiva, Ichan-Kala and other sights.

Uzbektourism said that it is carrying out special marketing projects to expand tourism season period and number of tourists stay in Khorezm region. This will help to increase real income of hotels and attract investors to the sector

Investments, directed to development of tourism infrastructure, will allow to attract more tourists to the region and it will create new jobs in hotel, restaurant, transport and souvenir sectors.
