First group of Uzbek pilgrims head to Saudi Arabia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A first group of pilgrims from Uzbekistan left for Saudi Arabia on 2 March to perform Umrah pilgrimage, the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan said.

A group of 175 people left from Tashkent to Jeddah with a charter flight of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari, the committee said.

The Committee on Religious Affairs said that about 5,000 people from Uzbekistan will visit Muslim sacred places.

Employees of the Committee on Religious Affairs, Muslims Board of Uzbekistan, other departments and organizations were attracted to send and meet pilgrims in the places. Spring Umrah will be conducted from 2 March to 29 April 2013. Each group will stay 10 days in Saudi Arabia.

Uzbek pilgrims will star at Ajniha at-Tayyib Hotel in Medina for four days. The hotel is located 25 meters away from Muslim sacred places. In Medina, they will visit mosque of Prophet Muhammad, hit tomb and other historic sights.

After that they will be transferred to Mecca, where they will conduct Umrah pilgrimage. They will stay for six days at Bishar Al-Mawadd Hotel in Mecca, which is located 800 meters away from Mecca mosque.

The committee added that a working group, which includes six servants, 24 doctors and 2 cooks, were sent to Saudi Arabia to render assistance to pilgrims.

The committee added that hotels have all conditions for comfortable stay of pilgrims, tea house and medical service points. Hotel rooms have TV sets and they can watch Uzbek TV channels.
