Experts from IPMI analyzed the dynamics of production of the main types of chemical and gas chemical products

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Experts from the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research analyzed the dynamics of production of the main types of chemical and gas chemical products for the period 2016-2022.

For the period 2016 – 2022, the chemical industry of Uzbekistan, despite the instability of world markets and the growth of competing imports, has achieved positive development results. The total output of the industry increased by 11.7% (in comparable prices), incl. for such basic components as the production of chemical products - by 4.9%, rubber and plastic products - by 47.9%.

In the sectoral structure, the largest share was accounted for by mineral fertilizers, the production of which in absolute terms increased by 20.7%, including nitrogen fertilizers by 18.7%, phosphate fertilizers by 11.9%, potash fertilizers by 43.4%.

In the segment of nitrogen fertilizers, the production of urea increased significantly - by 50%, ammonium nitrate - by 10%. The largest producers of these types of products are Navoiazot JSC and Ferganaazot JSC, which account for 80% of the production of carbamide and 72.2% of ammonium nitrate.

Dekhkanabad potash plant provided the entire volume of production of potash fertilizers, or 199.5 thousand tons.

In the production of soda ash, stable growth dynamics was noted, the volume of which increased by 1.6 times over the period under review. The growth of domestic demand contributed to the significant development of the household chemicals sector, in particular, the production of paints and varnishes based on acrylic, vinyl and synthetic polymers increased by 135.6%.

One of the factors of technological shifts in the economy was an increase in the production of polyethylene by 29.4% and polypropylene - by 23.8%. "LLC Shurtansky GCC" and "JV LLC Ustyurt GCC" secured their position as leaders in the production of gas chemical products.

During the analyzed period, the volume of exports of chemical products increased by more than 1.5 times. However, the import capacity of the domestic market expanded annually by an average of 16.6%, which indicates an insufficient level of use of existing capacities in chemical production.

Considering that the demand for chemical products will increase, it is planned to implement a number of measures to meet the needs of the domestic market by expanding our own production. For this, chemical-technological clusters will be created. This will attract foreign investors, give a new impetus to the release of new innovative products based on strengthening the interaction between science and production, as well as introducing the latest technologies.
