Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Dutch architect, partner of the architectural bureaus OMA and AMO, winner of the Pritzker Prize and the Golden Lion of the Venice Biennale Rem Koolhaas will visit Uzbekistan for the first time in October this year.

The creator of such architectural objects as the Rotterdam Art Museum, the Seattle Central Library, and the CCTV headquarters in Beijing will take part in a session of the Where in the World is Tashkent conference dedicated to the inclusion of monuments of Tashkent modernism in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and will also give a lecture.

Rem Koolhaas, Jean-Louis Cohen, Gayane Umerova and Ekaterina Golovatyuk discussed how modern development and heritage preservation are often seen as opposites and what difficulties researchers and citizens experience with the perception of twentieth-century architecture in the discussion “Preserving Modernism” in April 2023 in within the framework of the presentation of the Tashkent.Modernism XX/XXI project in Milan.
