Drunk Bus Driver Detained in Uzbekistan's Bukhara Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Traffic police in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara Region detained a bus driver in the Romitan district after discovering that he was driving under the influence of alcohol while transporting 40 kindergarten children.

According to law enforcement authorities, officers from the road safety service stopped the bus during an inspection. The vehicle was immediately taken out of service after police determined that the driver was intoxicated.

Officials said the children’s safety was ensured through the оперативные actions of traffic officers.

Administrative charges were filed against the driver under Part 1 of Article 131, Part 1 of Article 194 and Part 1 of Article 128-8 of Uzbekistan’s Code on Administrative Responsibility.

The driver was also stripped of his right to operate vehicles for three years.

Authorities stressed that driving under the influence poses a serious threat to public safety, particularly when transporting children.

Law enforcement agencies urged motorists not to drive after consuming alcohol and to strictly follow traffic regulations.
