Beauty salon Estelle in Tashkent accused of causing severe chemical burn to client
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Committee has conducted an investigation into the Tashkent-based beauty salon Estelle following a client’s complaint about harm to her health.
The victim approached the oversight authority after undergoing a “yellow peeling” procedure, which resulted in severe chemical burns covering approximately 80% of her facial skin, necessitating prolonged treatment and substantial financial expenses.
During the investigation, specialists uncovered multiple violations by the management company Environ PG. Cosmetic services requiring a medical license were provided without the proper authorization, and the employee performing the procedure lacked confirmed higher medical education. Furthermore, the procedures were carried out in violation of established quality and safety standards.
The case materials have been forwarded to the General Prosecutor’s Office for legal assessment, including under Article 190 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan — conducting licensed activities without a license.
The Competition Committee condemned the provision of medical services without a license as a negligent disregard for consumer health and safety, urging citizens to thoroughly verify licenses and the qualifications of specialists when visiting beauty salons and medical institutions.
It is noteworthy that in 2024, the Committee received over 320 complaints about poor-quality beauty services, many of which involved serious health issues such as skin damage, swelling, cracking, rashes, and tissue deformation.
